1 car space = 10 bicycles
Did you know you can park 10 bicycles in a single car parking space?
Cyclehoop is demonstrating this idea using their ‘Car Shaped Bike rack’ recently installed on Lower Marsh near Waterloo Station.
Lambeth Council have decided to test the idea of converting a parking bay into 10 bicycle parking spaces and this temporary installation will last 1 month from 7 June till 7 July. There is currently a great demand for additional cycle parking in the area and the rack is a great way to test the demand to help determine where cycle stands should be installed.
At the same time the bold outline of the car conveys a serious message in a humorous way. Cars cause pollution, congestion and take up space. The message is for people to drive less and cycle more!
