1 Car space = 10 bicycles
Did you know you can park 10 bicycles in a single car parking space?
Cyclehoop is demonstrating this idea using their ‘Car Shaped Bike Rack’ now installed on Belvedere Road in Southbank in an attention grabbing funky pink shade.
The unit has been installed for Lambeth Council and converts a parking bay into 10 bicycle parking spaces. The car will be relocated every 2 months and is a great way to test the local demand for cycle parking in order to determine where cycle stands should be installed.
At the same time the bold outline of the car conveys a serious message in a humorous way. Cars cause pollution, congestion and take up space. The message is for people to drive less and cycle more!
