Innovative car bike rack on show in London’s Derry Street

The UK’s leading innovator in bicycle street furniture has installed its latest creation, the Car Bike Rack, on London’s Derry Street for a limited time only.
For a limited time only, London’s Derry Street in Kensington will play home to the latest installation from innovative street furniture creator Cyclehoop; the Car Bike Rack. Following the large success of the company’s namesake creation, the unique rack will be on show from Monday to Wednesday of this week; providing London cyclists with an innovative means of parking and securing their bicycles.
As the latest creation from Cyclehoop, the Car Bike Rack encapsulates a unique design to provide maximum street parking potential for bicycles. The design was commissioned by the London Festival of Architecture and sponsored by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council, and converts a parking space for one car into parking for up to 10 bicycles.
The eye catching ‘car shape’ design not only acts as a barrier to protect parked bicycles from damage; but highlights the space potential normally taken by just one car. The design can be bolted down for permanent use or easily transported, and also includes the option of an integrated bicycle pump. The rack has already been installed at many events and several cities around Europe, and is part of a larger initiative by Cyclehoop to provide convenient and space-effective parking solutions for cyclists UK-wide.
Anthony Lau, Managing Director of Cyclehoop, had the following to say:
“We decided to put our Car Bike Rack on show in London this week to raise awareness of the possible ways in which parking facilities for bicycles can be easily erected around the city; in places you usually wouldn’t expect. We’re extremely proud of our design, which is not only unique, but extremely space effective; allowing up to 10 bicycles to park in a space usually taken by just one car. We are also grateful to all at Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council for their support, and for allowing us the opportunity to show the rack in Derry Street this week.”
The Car Bike Rack will be on show to the British public on London’s Derry Street for one week from Monday 6th September.
